Common cave cricket
What is the common and scientific name of this?
Male. The Jerusalem cricket was found in this guy's web.
Yellowstriped oakworm - looking sleek and aposematic on an oak leaf.
Black-bodied insect with clear wings. The body is about 5/32" long. The wings are about 5/16" long. They appeared starting Friday, April 26, when I noticed one of the wingless bodies on the table on the deck. April 27, small swarm (few hundred) landed on the people, furniture and floor of the deck. They didn't bite. I noticed many more wings lying about, such as shown in the picture. I don't know if they came from the ground or the sweet gum, maple, oak or hickory tree(s) nearby. They drop the wings, as shown here on my grill cover, and crawl about. The one whole bug in the photo is just to the right of center. I really saw many more wings than bugs. Added closeup photo.
Pulling nesting material from my planters.
