Has a loud call that is different from the punakaiki weka. Low fear of humans.
Found on hot sunny dry day inside going around. About 1-2 inches in length. Found at 12:20pm.

I walk past this almost every day and finally spent the time to figure out what it was. I've got it down to Phylica plumosa or Phylica pubescens. It's flowering at the moment.
