Lifted a rock and was shocked to find this little guy underneath it. I personally think it has a nice shade of green.
This adult Pacific Chorus Frog, Pseudacris regilla, approximately 2.5 cm long, was found in the shallows of Fine Gold Creek. The creek was low, but there was still current. The color shows well in the photo, as does the eyestripe. The species of this specimen was witnesses by several people.
Found in creek next to my home. Creek bed was mostly dry with some slight dampness under the rocks in the original runway of the creek. After hiking a small bit south, the creek would lead to small pockets of water where there were many tadpoles present.

Cormorants on the Los Angeles River.
Large dark cormorant.
Easily about a dozen of them hanging out together.
this morning's hike at Cedar Ridge Preserve I observed a Great Egret and another similar sized bird at Cattail Pond. This large bird is Black, hooked bill, and swims, I am thinking it may be a cormorant.
The bird was nervous about the people in the pergola and myself on the bank It kept looking back and forth at us. It entered the water.. swam a lap then flew, circled the pond coming to rest on the branch where Great Egret was perched. the Great Egret gave up its hunting spot to the other bird.
One of a few birds observed at Red Springs at noon today.

Dec 3 805a Bird observed on Cattail Pond Trail near the pond (maybe a ruby crowned kinglet?)
Not sure what this is. Seemed too fast and long for a muskrat. Did not look like a beaver but both are also in the same area.
