Description

poison oak is EVERYWHERE, it is probably the prettiest plant ever. This particular poison oak I found in the strebel homestead and it was right in the middle of the ruins of an old house.

Description

Found in the redwood duff. It was about 18 inches overall in length. the vine itself was bare, only having leaves on it.

Description

This plant stood out to me because it was at the strebel homestead right in the middle of the ruins of an old house and besides one plant of poison oak this was the only other living thing.

Description

The flowers have one petal and resemble a orchid. The plant was growing on the side of a creek and was receiving moisture as it had drops of water saved on many of the leaves.

California Bay (Umbellularia californica)

Description

Found small bay tree that appears to have died from sudden oak death. The top of the tree had orange dead leaves and the bottom of the tree had live healthy leaves. No other trees within 30 feet seemed to be affected. Tree was around 5 feet tall. Half bright green and half orange.

Description

This douglas fir was about 5 feet tall and in a clearing. Poison oak was around the base of the tree.

Under a shaded oak tree, next to tall grassland. About 12 other small trees in surrounding area, but no large tree. About 11 inches tall and 11.5 inches in width at largest point.

Description

found in a field on the floor underneath grass. many others like it in areas where the grass was pushed down. had five petals of white with red streaks between each petal. Buds were yellowish brown.
