Description

The black coloring is the color of the carbon that is locked into the alkali peet system. As time and pressure processes, oil and eventual coal is formed in the system. Each tidal cycle, more carbon is added to the system via the bacteria and plant carbon uptake. The area gives off a gassy smell which is the carbon.
