approx 5” length, circled anything in the water (mooring rope, people..)
Caught about five miles off Barnegat Inlet, NJ. Grunted like a Jack. Water was clear upper 70 degrees.
Seine net from shore (southeast side of Ponquogue Bridge); An experienced local marine naturalist has made a compelling argument that this specimen is a Mahogany Snapper, not a Northern Red Snapper (as I had initially thought); I am interested to hear various opinion on its identity
