Description

All the Maoricrypta sp are easily confused because they form random shapes.
M. sodalis has the habit of forming a true slipper shape with the outer surface more of less flat and the aperture raised. This is the converse in most other spp. but exceptions seem to exist and one needs to collect a number of samples for comparison to draw any sort of conclusion.

Impossible to photograph !

These dwell inside dead gastropod shells often sharing with Hermit crabs.
