Shown are the few long spines a pad will have. At their base and elsewhere are very small, clear spines. Ouch! They are hard to see, much less remove. Taken right after a rain.

I was fascinated to examine how this vine was liming a damaged pine tree.

Weeds are things you do not want in your lawn or garden, but they may be attractive. A weed is just something you don't want.

A really cool looking beetle! About a little less than an inch long for perspective =-)
