These are a challenge to capture for two reasons. They tend to stay far away from the banks and they tend to see you, dive deep and come back up many feet away from where they dived. This chill grebe was closer and not actively diving, which was a nice treat. Calm winds and a reflection was just icing on the cake. The ring on its bill indicates it is in breeding colors.

Additional comments? - I think this is a little blue! Very exciting! But I couldn't see the colors too well, it looked all dark grey to me. Maybe it's a juvi of another species? Hanging out on the dock all suspicious like...
