While most white-faced heron are difficult to get close to, the bird that frequents a popular picnic spot on the shores of Lake Forsyth seems to have become used to humans and will walk very close to people picnicking or standing on the shore while it pursues food in the shallows. Makes for easy photography!
Travis has a couple of interesting varieties of sheep at present, these guys are from the Mohaka.

There are more kuaka in the estuary now but still nothing like the numbers I have seen in other seasons.
