Observed from nearby collections by Madsen. Pods distinctly larger both lengthwise and widthwise. Only specimen in bloom found. There are so many pods. In this specific area, I spotted about 15-20 plants ranging from young to old. Overall, i saw about 3-40 plants in the total areas I searched.
Habit: clay-sand. Quercus turbinella, Garya flavescens, Penstemon linarioides sileri, Psoralidium spp, Artemisia tridentata, Calochortus nuttallianus, Dalea searlsiae.
Growth, subacaulescent, spreading but still tuft-forming. Flowers deep purple, drying drying pale blue to creamy-white. Seedpods, very large, red spotted, thick, fleshy, dual-chambered.
Sub 8" in height, growing on very exposed south-facing ridge at about 6700'
