Bird Behavior Hypothesis

Recently, I have observed small birds which make their nests in trees act in a specific, repeating pattern. They will fly around the tree, which has many leaves due to vines on the tree, and make a false landing, only to leave the branch and land on another one, often on a different tree. This could be to distract predators from looking directly at the birds themselves, but rather spots on trees that are moving as a result of the bird making a false landing, making themselves less noticeable when making a true landing.
