Chiffchaffs and a Redwing on Donnington Bridge, 29/12/2016

Spotted a small olivey-brown bird whilst walking over the Donnington Bridge on my way to an appointment. Spotted the same bird again whilst on my way back over the bridge a couple of hours later, this time with a partner. the birds were flitting about low down in the shrubs, always staying just ahead of me but fairly close to the path , so i got a good, prolonged view. unfortunately, i didn't take my headphones out to listen for any calls they were making, but i made a mental note of their size and colour, and the pale streak over the eye, later identifying them as Chiffchaffs in my bird book when i got home. I also spotted my first Redwing of this winter, sitting on a branch slightly further away from where the Chiffchaffs were darting about. It was solitary - I hope the regular crowd turn up in my garden this year.
