The pools, like everywhere else, was almost frog free. There were two, and this was one of them - and no snakes, and no dragonflies.
What
Bagworm Moths (Family Psychidae)Observer
andyhammondDescription
An amazing insect. I'm glad the photos came out so well.
What
Common Slowworm (Anguis fragilis)Observer
andyhammondDescription
The only one I've ever seen, and it had to be dead. Also known as the legless lizard, theblindworm and the deaf adder.
What
Egyptian Bird Grasshopper (Anacridium aegyptium)Observer
andyhammondDescription
We were in Port de la Selva earlier than usual this year by a week or two. Never seen so many of these large grasshoppers, as big (or bigger) as your biggest finger. When they leap they travel fluttering like birds for considerable distances.
What
Large White (Pieris brassicae)Observer
andyhammondDescription
There were lots of whites, some swallowtails, various other butterflies, some new, some old friends. No scarce swallowtails - a new bee! Cabbo Creus never fails to throw up something new for us.

Holly Blue (Celastrina argiolus)Observer
andyhammondDescription
Without my books I'm a little bit uncertain about identifying things, butterflies flowers etc.
What
Plumed Fan-Foot (Pechipogo plumigeralis)Observer

Fairly small moth, don't know what kind. It looks quite dramatic, more than it did at the time.

Frogs and Toads (Order Anura)Observer
andyhammondDescription
This toadpole (?) had found a little pool on the side of the watertank to bask in.

Mining Bees (Genus Andrena)Observer

A bee mimic. Have to get my book out, unless anyone can help identify it.
What
Green Longhorn Moth (Adela reaumurella)Observer
andyhammondDescription

What
Large Red Damselfly (Pyrrhosoma nymphula)Observer
andyhammondDescription
First Damselfly of the year. Other people have reported this one as in flight. I think my identification is correct but the eyes seem a funny colour.
What
Lathbury's Nomad Bee (Nomada lathburiana)Observer
andyhammondDescription
There were plenty of unidentifiables up on Clougha. I got a photo of this one.
What
Common Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus)Observer
andyhammondDescription
I'm no eggspert, but looking on the internet I think this must be a pheasnt's egg.
What
Noon Fly (Mesembrina meridiana)Observer
andyhammondDescription
Someone must know what this is - even if the photo isn't up to much (too far away to get a better one). Near the sewage farm if that has any bearing on it.
