The pools, like everywhere else, was almost frog free. There were two, and this was one of them - and no snakes, and no dragonflies.

The only one I've ever seen, and it had to be dead. Also known as the legless lizard, theblindworm and the deaf adder.

There were lots of whites, some swallowtails, various other butterflies, some new, some old friends. No scarce swallowtails - a new bee! Cabbo Creus never fails to throw up something new for us.

Without my books I'm a little bit uncertain about identifying things, butterflies flowers etc.

Fairly small moth, don't know what kind. It looks quite dramatic, more than it did at the time.

I'm hoping someone will know what this is. On whinberries up on Birk Bank.

First Damselfly of the year. Other people have reported this one as in flight. I think my identification is correct but the eyes seem a funny colour.

I'm no eggspert, but looking on the internet I think this must be a pheasnt's egg.

Eristalis pertinax

Someone must know what this is - even if the photo isn't up to much (too far away to get a better one). Near the sewage farm if that has any bearing on it.
