These two ants were interacting with each other on a leaf that was about eye level. I was walking and almost ran right into these two ants. After a few pictures, they noticed I was there and quickly began to descend the tree.

The Annual Fleabane, or Eastern Daisy Fleabane, is a native annual flower that grows 2 to 4 feet high, has many hairs on the stem, basal and stem leaves, and many stalked flower tops. The flowers have many florets with corollas that can range from white to light pink. The Annual Fleabane pictured here had been exposed to many days of pouring rain. During which, the stem was not able to support the flower tops throughout the rain and collapsed.

Description

It is a very common species and is not considered to be threatened. Its habitat includes grasslands, woodlands, forest margins, and field borders. It is distributed throughout the United States. It consists of leaves with three leaflets and a flowering head that comprises many flowers which are about 10-15 mm long and rose-purple in color. The Red Clover pictured was found in a small patch of other Red Clovers on the edge of the woods.
