I retired from teaching a couple of years back. Before that I was a biology professor within the Natural Sciences Department of Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas (my home town). Before that I worked for David Diamond as a zoologist of the Texas Natural Heritage Program. Regarding my research and natural history interests, I am an ornithologist by training (at UT Austin, Oklahoma State and UCLA). My field research has focussed on Aplomado Falcon and Golden-cheeked Warbler behavior, ecology and conservation biology. But herpetology was my first (and continuing) area of interest, refined by my undergraduate advisor, Frank Blair at UT Austin. I am also a practicing raptor fanatic and have been an active falconer for about 50 years.

In the future I will continue contributing observations to iNaturalist from my homes in central Texas and western Idaho, and from future trips to Latin America and elsewhere. For those interested in learning more about Aplomado
Falcons, my researchgate site is https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Dean-Keddy-Hector.
