I am an artist always looking to learn more about nature to inform my paintings and drawings. My work has been focused on little, often under-appreciated, creatures, such as insects and invertebrates. They are composed in environments with landscape features like rocks and plants. My favorite subject is butterflies for their color and pattern, and their symbolic possibilities regarding transformation. I am involved in citizen science projects from time to time and have been selected as the artist in residence to four national parks (Glacier, Everglades, Mesa Verde and Great Basin), which has greatly expanded my knowledge as to the diversity found in nature.
