Life-long naturalist in California. BA & MA UC Berkeley (with no multi-disciplinary majors in 1960s, Geography major allowed me to take courses in a broad range of life & earth sciences into a general natural history education: from herp & ornithology; paleo & geomorphology; botany & soil science; to ecology, geology & entomology, etc.) Career includes: field researcher, UCB School of Forestry; USNPS ranger-naturalist Grand Teton NP; Wilderness guide; Lecturer in environmental science, UC Berkeley; & 29 years with The Nature Conservancy. Now retired & enjoying it all. Generalist, though focus on native plants, Native American ethnobotany, birds, vegetation dynamics, and geomorphology.
