This adult female was collected on April 6, 2009 from under a bridge near Westmoreland, CA. Artema atlanta is the largest pholcid in the world and was introduced to North America. At this time, the only known colonies of this spider in the continental U.S. are in southern Arizona and southeastern California. On June 14, 2006 she was found in her tank with an egg sac in her jaws.
