Pardosa steva is one of the Thin-legged Wolf Spiders (those in the genus Pardosa). This adult female is carrying her egg sac behind her attached to her spinnerets. These spiders were extremely common among the riverside cobbles along the south fork of the Trinity River near the town of Hyampom (elevation 1200').
Identification was made by collecting several specimens and then comparing their diagnostic features (under a microscope) to the keys and descriptions in the relevant literature. Photo of her epyginum is included.
