After a month volunteering with Turtle Foundation in Boa Vista, Cape Verde, these were the best photos I could take of an adult turtle. There are good reasons for it, however: they only come during the night, and we only approach turtles crawling from behind to prevent disturbing them, and using red lights only. Artificial white lights disorient both nesting females and hatchlings, and are the second main threat to nesting sea turtles in Cape Verde, after poaching.
