This colorful grasshopper had yellow wings with a black band (visible in flight).

Trying to ID it using several resources, I am thinking it might be Agymnastus venerabilis or Xanthippus sierra.

A similarly shaped but less colorful female was seen nearby ovipositing.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
