The Little Big-eared Bat (Micronycteris megalotis) is one of several species in Trinidad known to glean insects from vegetation, or off the ground. A stealthy hunter, this little bat quiets its sonar when foraging, opting instead to direct its extraordinarily sensitive ears to listen for the courtship calls, or even the footsteps of its insect prey. Its diet includes flies, beetles, cockroaches, caterpillars, crickets, grasshoppers, other insects, and some fruit too. The average weight of this species is 6 grams (Trinibats)
