July’s Record of the Month is a great shot of a Regal Moth (Citheronia regalis) by Tim Hite. Regal moths belong to the family Saturniidae, which includes other large showy moths like the luna moths, imperial moths, and io moths. The caterpillars of regal moths, known as hickory horned devils, are also very impressive – they look fierce but are actually quite harmless.
