2022 Border BioBlitz

The 2022 Border BioBlitz is a community science effort to record as many species as possible along the U.S.-Mexico border. The Next Generation Sonoran Desert Researchers and collaborating organizations invite researchers and community members to document the stunning biological diversity of the borderlands.

The Border BioBlitz 2022 will run the entire month of April and until May 2nd!

A Curator’s Guide to iNaturalist.

Join San Diego Natural History Museum Curator of Botany and National Geographic Explorer Dr. Jon Rebman for a night of perfecting your iNaturalist plant observations. Jon will be sharing tips and tricks for how to make high quality plant observations valuable to science! This training is geared towards participants that have past experience with iNaturalist, are interested in learning more about the plants and botanical diversity in San Diego County, as well as identification resources, such as sdplantatlas.org.

Registrants will receive free digital resources to help hone plant observation and identification skills. If you need help with the basics of using the iNaturalist app or website, please review the tutorials provided here prior to attending this program.

This online program is free, but advanced registration is required. Please use the below links to register. Note: You do not need a Zoom account to attend the talk.

City Nature Challenge iNat Training

Be part of the winning team and help San Diego County win the 2020 City Nature Challenge!

The 2020 City Nature Challenge is a worldwide competition to see which region has the most nature loving residents. It uses iNaturalist to make observations of wild plants and animals over a 4-day period.

This meeting will be held at The Nat. We will cover an overview of the 2020 City Nature Challenge, the resources we can offer partners, as well as an iNaturalist tutorial. After the meeting, feel free to stay and enjoy The Nat free of charge.

Let’s have fun, get outside, and get competitive!

Light refreshments will be provided.

The 2020 City Nature Challenge runs Friday, April, 24 at 12 AM to Monday, April 27 at 11:59 PM
