San Gabriel Chestnut Snail in the news!

Little is known about the San Gabriel Chestnut snail other than it has a very limited habitat that has, historically, been reduced by anthropogenic development (housing, roads, etc. ). On November 14, the Center of Biological Diversity sent a petition to the US Department of the Interior and US Fish and Wildlife Service to list this species as endangered.

The observations from this project are some of, if not the only known records of this snail in the last 35 years!

Congratulations SLIME participants, especially Cedric Lee and James Bailey.
