Flora Novae-Angliae notes that Kim, Molecular Phylogeny of Forsythia Based on Chloroplast DNA Variation, Plant Syst. Evol. 218, 1999, does not support Forsythia x intermedia as a hybrid of F. suspensa and F. viridissima. However this widely cultivated strain has not been identified as naturally occurring. Since both F. intermedia and F. x intermedia are currently on iNaturalist, this taxon swap consolidates the species to F. x intermedia, both the currently accepted name at ITIS, and Zadel's original name from his description of the species (Gartenflora, 1885). The other common name for the species, showy forsythia, has been added to F. x intermedia.
Unintended disagreements occur when a parent (B) is
thinned by swapping a child (E) to another part of the
taxonomic tree, resulting in existing IDs of the parent being interpreted
as disagreements with existing IDs of the swapped child.
Identification
ID 2 of taxon E will be an unintended disagreement with ID 1 of taxon B after the taxon swap
If thinning a parent results in more than 10 unintended disagreements, you
should split the parent after swapping the child to replace existing IDs
of the parent (B) with IDs that don't disagree.
