I'm interested in using mobile technology to share information about nature, especially landscape-level patterns of plants and water flow. I'm also interested in just about everything else nature-related, as well as technology, art, and fostering community. I'm having fun trying out technology-based outreach and citizen science in beautiful, rural Vermont.

Right now I am working for the State of Vermont, mapping natural communities. Among other things, I'm using this site to increase my knowledge of Vermont's plants and other natural features, and to keep track of the neat things I have found in different places. Previously, I worked in southern California on similar projects. If it seems that I'm identifying, verifying, or disputing plant IDs from an impossibly zoomed out photo, it's probably because I spent four years using binoculars to identify southern California plants from very far away, and I got good at it :)

Some of my sightings are on private property. Please don't infer that sightings mean the area is open to the public, and instead ask permission if you're looking to visit private land. I also sometimes wander about in areas of adverse topography, so be warned if you're trying to relocate my sightings. Don't walk off a cliff while looking at your phone.

If you see an incorrectly identified species in my observations, or have other comments, please feel free to share them and correct my IDs! I've still got a lot to learn about the world, as we all do.
