Help Western North Carolina in the City Nature Challenge!
We need you to help represent Team Western NC during this year’s NC BioBlitz for the international City Nature Challenge!
The City Nature Challenge and NC BioBlitz occur in two stages:
Observation Window: April 26-April 29
Upload/ID Window: April 30-May 5
We are tagging you because you are an active top contributor when it comes to documenting the wildlife found in the North Carolina mountains. To hopefully add some inspiration, I wanted to share what your current ranking is by number of observations in the region since 2020.
Essentially, you can upload and provide identifications anytime between April 26 to May 5, but they must be observations that are made between April 26 and April 29. We'll have prizes to award for the iNaturalist users who have the most observations and the most species observed. The Roan Mtn Spring Naturalist Rally is that weekend, so I'll be just over the ridge in Tennessee. I'll try to contribute on April 29.
I also will not yet be in NC. I'm sad to miss the blitz. Been looking out for one, so thanks for your message and invite. Please keep me in mind in future blitzes! Willing to travel around WNC.
Hi, I would love to participate. I am unclear if this BioBlitz is just for animals or for wildflowers, fungus, mosses, etc as well?

@ladyjanaye, I believe it's everything. That's typical for the city bioblitzes and this is a version of that.
Looking forward to it! Although I have some work conflicts over the observation period, so won't be able to contribute as much as previous years, unfortunately. Thank you so much for all of your work Jonathan and Lauren!
How do I "sign up" to be included in the City Nature Challenge Bioblitz starting today? Do I just go ahead and post my findings in I-Nat or do I need to sign up somewhere?
