There are two Xylophilus in 2 different families.
1) Xylophilus Mannerheim, 1823 [Eucnemidae] valid;
2) Xylophilus Latreille, 1825 [Aderidae] - homonym, to be replaced by Aderus Stephens, 1829.
Aderid species combined with Xylophilus (or currently: Aderus) likely do all belong in different generic entities.
Solution to be found; all Aderid "Xylophilus" now here.
Thanks.
Hylophilus Temminck, 1822 is a genus in birds.
Hylophilus (Berthold, 1827, homonym) has been used in Aderidae up into the 20th century, even as the typical genus for the family "Hylophilidae". Many species described in "Hylophilus", too.
settled!
