Hello Bob, it seems to be not so easy for I have heard it is a Synonym of Cerastium fontanum vulgare and C. fontanum holosteoides.
But I read here: http://www.plantsoftheworldonline.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:59658-3 :(

Hi - Do not worry about it - let the international taxomonists sort it out one day!!!!

the current name is Cerastium holosteoides Fr.
look here: http://www.plantsoftheworldonline.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:152312-1#synonyms

Thank for your link but unfortunately the United Kingdom (Stace 2019) treats this as C. fontanum ssp. holosteoides

I have drafted a merge for these and some other names: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxon_changes/69227

Thanks I see where you are trying to go - will have to see how different countries react to bringing ssp. holosteoides and ssp. vulgare together and how it affects the different observation/data sets as some European country specialists may not be happy for example UK verses Germany verses Czech republic etc.

@jameskm
I am doing some research on these taxons, please wait until I get back to you. So I think the better way would be to keep the subspecies and use the name Cerastium fontanum vulgare for some of these. It seems to be a little bit complicated.

@epsilon I am of course happy to wait. There were a number of recent flags, so I just drafted a merge consistent with our taxonomic authority.

@epsilon & @jameskm - maybe you should bring @rolftheobo into the discussion - I had a big discussion with him last year about this and there was someone else concerned either from Poland or the Czech Republic from one of the National Museums I think.

We will certainly need a discussion with more interested parties. At the moment I am collecting what the different databases have to say about the taxon. It is a big mess and I do not think that POWO can be our guideline here.

I agree.
