iNaturalist uses the common name Texas creeping oxeye for Wedelia hispida and Wedelia texana. I am confused as to correct scientific name. I believe the common central Texas species carried in the very popular reference, Marhall Enquist's Wildflowers of the Texas Hill Country calls it by common name Zexmenia and Z. hispida as scientific name (pg 229). POWO seems to say Wedelia acopolcensis var hispida is the correct scientific name for Z. hispida, but iNaturalist seems to carry both Wedelia Texana and Wedelia hispida

W. texana is now resolved as a synonym of W. hispida.

Just looking through comments by top identifiers, it seems that most are recognizing this as truly being W. acapulcensis var. hispida. I'm not a plant taxonomist, but it seems reasonable to go ahead and follow suit with POWO and use W. acapulcensis var. hispida. These seem to be identified quickly enough that there shouldn't be too much if any loss in the long run (and it will free up a few where there are conflicting IDs of W. acapulcensis).
