I can resolve the flag if you are happy for it to be closed. Alternatively we could leave it open and request that the curators who do the fish taxonomy enter it as a deviation from Fishbase. In this case I think it may be worthwhile because Fishbase is so very slow to update.

Yes, Eschmeyer's Catalog of Fishes is in agreement but Fishbase has not caught up with this change yet and iNaturalist follows Fishbase for its taxonomy. Unfortunately they are incredibly slow to update - it can take years - so it's not likely to happen anytime soon. You could try contacting Fishbase directly to see if the'll recognise the synonymy and update.
