Amsonia arenaria Standl.
First published in Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington 26: 117 (1913)
This name is a synonym of Amsonia tomentosa var. stenophylla
I understand inatuarlist follows POWO - but in the new treatment of Flora North America this species is now recognized and it makes sense in my mind (note I am not the one who did the new treatment, but I am working on the phylogeny for this group, and support this taxonomy). This species is also widely disjunct from range of Amsonia tomentosa var stenophylla. Stenophylla is endemic to the eastern areas of of the colorado plateau (Arizona/Utah) whereas arenaria is only found in New Mexico, Mexico, and extreme western Texas.
Can you send a feedback o POWO with the relevant literature ?
