Agreed. "Hemerocallis fulva" is often selected erroneously for photos of complex Hemerocallis hybrid cultivars in cultivation. "Hemerocallis x hybrids" is available in the iNat pick list and would be a better (correct) choice.

I didn't see Hemerocallis x hybrid in the taxonomy list. I chose Hemerocallis fulva var. kwanso for my obs: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/50080891

Hemerocallis fulva var. kwanso is correct for yours, @lappelbaum, but it 's a common error here that complex Hemerocallis hybrid cultivars are often misID'd as H. fulva.

My obs was just a side note (and a hope that you would 2nd my ID). I was trying to point out was that I couldn't find "Hemerocallis x hybrids" in the taxonomy list (for other people to use).

Good point... it was available at the time I wrote my comment but I can't find it now either.

Why binominal Hemerocallis x hybrids is deleted?

“Hemerocallis x hybrids” isn’t correct nomenclaturally ( as compared to something like Hemerocalllis x hybrida) but I don’t know if that’s why it was removed. I don’t see any other term to refer generally to Hemerocallis hybrid cultivars (which number in the tens of thousands).
