Similar situation to Gryllus pennsylvanicus - M. femmurrubrum IS the most common Melanoplus IME, so usually the computer vision will be right. But there are a lot of less common Melanoplus that the computer vision could get wrong.

@tgrant999 The most common Melanoplus is quite the opposite to me. I'm coming my 4th year of documenting Orthopterans in the Pacific Northwest, and about 80% of the males I've captured in the femurrubrum species complex are M. sanguinipes. Though based on iNaturalist reporting, these proportions do a 360 once you go west of the Cascades.
