graytreefrog Prairie Kingsnake (Lampropeltis calligaster)

This species has recently been split into three species: Lampropeltis occipitolineata (the South Florida Mole Kingsnake), Lampropeltis calligaster (the Prairie Kingsnake), and Lampropeltis rhombomaculata (the Mole Kingsnake).

I suspect this will be in the Dec Reptile Database update, any reason not to wait for that?

I didn’t realize it was going to update so soon. I suppose it will take care of this. Thanks!

It doesn't look like this made it into the last RD update. I'm happy to continue to wait for RD if you are.

Sounds like what you're proposing is just to elevate each of the 3 ssp of Lampropeltis calligaster (sensu RD) to species status?
Prairie Kingsnake (Lampropeltis calligaster ssp. calligaster)
South Florida Mole Kingsnake (Lampropeltis calligaster ssp. occipitolineata)
Mole Kingsnake (Lampropeltis calligaster ssp. rhombomaculata)

closing this since its been 9 months - but FWIW RD hasn't made this change. They've listed Lampropeltis occipitolineata etc as synonyms of Lampropeltis calligaster http://reptile-database.reptarium.cz/species?genus=Lampropeltis&species=calligaster&search_param=%28%28search%3D%27Lampropeltis+occipitolineata%27%29%29 which I think means they are aware of this change but chose not to follow it. I suggest contacting Peter Uetz @ reptile database if you want more information of too lobby for the split

Can the preferred English name please be set to Prairie Kingsnake, rather than Yellow-bellied Kingsnake?

RD shows species elevations now and no ssp:
