A 2016 paper noted that "Sansevieria (Asparagaceae, Nolinoideae) is a herbaceous clade within Dracaena: inference from non-coding plastid and nuclear DNA sequence data" The abstract notes, "More work is needed to resolve internal relationships in the dracaenoids, but we support a recent proposal to recognise a broadened circumscription of Dracaena that includes Sansevieria. We provide a generic description for the recircumscribed Dracaena and new combinations for several species of Sansevieria in Dracaena."
An earlier 2013 paper also found that Sansevieria is "Dracaena is paraphyletic in regards to Sansevieria and those species should be recognized as species of Dracaena. (Phylogenetic Relationships among Dracaenoid Genera (Asparagaceae:Nolinoideae) Inferred from Chloroplast DNA Loci, https://www.academia.edu/6766975/Phylogenetic_Relationships_among_Dracaenoid_Genera_Asparagaceae_Nolinoideae_Inferred_from_Chloroplast_DNA_Loci).
There was a 1973 article "Proposal to Amend the Entry of 1100. Sansevieria in the List of Nomina Generica Conservanda" (https://www.jstor.org/stable/1218069?seq=1) that I cannot myself access. In 2013 a "plea" was made to restore Petagna's authorship to Sansevieria (https://www.jstor.org/stable/taxon.62.2.387?seq=1) as a conserved name, although that involves authorship specifically and perhaps not the taxonomy.
Unless there was a specific exception made to conserve the name, I suspect the swap will have to occur. Although a number of online resources note that Sansevieria is now submerged under Dracaena, I somehow missed this.
I have this set up as a deviation from POWO
https://www.inaturalist.org/taxon_framework_relationships/365786
if someone could make sure that the list of Sansevieria species and their POWO Dracaena analogues are all accounted for in that deviation that would be great

Please discuss before changing the taxonomy.
