See http://www.plantsoftheworldonline.org/?q=Aylostera. OK to follow POWO or are there proposals to deviate?

Rebutia certainly needs to be split but as we've already discussed, for this and other genera of Cactaceae, that is best done by collaboration with Kew to produce a new taxonomy for POWO.

Now accepted by POWO! Although with a rather strange collection of taxa.
This flag should probably be considered as resolved.

EDIT! I retract that last statement. POWO's concept of Aylostera follows that published on Caryophyllales.org which, IMO, is total nonsense. For example take a look at their synonyms of Aylostera deminuta. There are at least 13 distinct, recognizable species hidden in there. The taxonomy is based solely on early molecular data with few markers which show very little variation across the sampled taxa. In this instance morphology works much better to distinguish the species.

For a selection of taxa included under Aylostera deminuta by Caryophyllales.org see here.
Please do not re-identify these observations.

POWO now accepts this genus with a more acceptable list of species. I'm in the process of updating iNaturalist's taxon records but it will take some time to complete.
