Commenting because this hasn't been resolved. Currently Lithurginae is a dead end in iNat taxonomy. @kueda can you help?

I'm not really sure what the proposal is here. If it's to swap Tribe Lithurgini into Subfamily Lithurginae, we don't have a global authority covering this taxon, in which case the Curator's Guide says to default to BugGuide, which supports Lithurginae but not Lithurgini at present, so that seems reasonable to me.

I think you're interpreting John's intentions correctly and I agree that iNat ought to copy bugguide here and shift both Lithurgus and Lithurgopsis genus from Megachilinae to Lithurginae. Not sure if that means Lithurgini should be eliminated, because the other tribe (Protolithurgini) within Lithurginae is all extinct.

Another source which agrees https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1365-3113.2012.00620.x

As far as I can tell there is no Tribe Protolithurgini on iNat, so that doesn't seem like a concern to me. Issues with genera in another subfamily might warrant different swaps, or just moving those genera into the new subfamily. To match BugGuide, Lithurgini should be eliminated in favor of a new Lithurginae, and by "eliminated" I mean there should be a taxon swap set up that will deactivate it.

Thank you

It looks like the subfamily taxon already exists (https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/575051-Lithurginae) and has 2 observations. The tribe currently has 5 genera within it, each with observations.

Update: I edited the parent taxon of each of the applicable genera to become subfamily, and afterward did a taxon swap to replace tribe IDs with subfamily IDs.
