fungee puffballs (Family Lycoperdaceae)

I think it is a clade in Agaricaceae now, having trouble finding good references for that shift though. Perhaps this one: https://www.db-thueringen.de/servlets/MCRFileNodeServlet/dbt_derivate_00019285/Gube/Dissertation.pdf

The lycoperdaceae could be absorbed within a broader agaricaceae as proposed by Vellinga et al 2011 (as agaricaceae sensu lato). However the traditional Lycoperdaceae forms a well supported subclade. There are quite a few refs for that , eg your Gube 2009 ref. I personally think it is still worth recognising the traditional puffball family. To bump observations of puffballs unrecognised at genus level to 'agaricaceae' would result in an avoidable loss of information. The family continues to be recognised in many catalogues. The real problem is what to do with the remainder of 'agaricaceae sensu lato' that isn't 'agaricaceae sensu stricto' or Lycoperdaceae. Some more work and probably families are needed.
