are we intending to deviate by having this be a ssp? https://www.inaturalist.org/taxon_framework_relationships/30566

This is such a difficult group with all of its hybridogenic species/populations that I vote for following our authority and splitting it off as a species.

OK I elevated the ssp but I didn't split the species for now

ASW has put this back as a ssp - we follow or keep it as a species?

It will probably always change from species to subspecies and back again... It is an arbitrary position with no obvious reason to select one or the other. I think we should leave it as it is to avoid this sempiternal loop and the possible mistakes in merging the subspecies (if P. bergeri becomes a sub-species then P. lessonae must be changed first into P. lessonae ssp lessonae).

Hi, There are few observations of P. bergeri on iNat (111: 105 in Corsica and only 6 in Italy, where we usually stop at the P. lessone complex for ID).
Maybe it's easier to follow ASW without deviating since it is a difficult group...
I vote for following ASW authority.
Best,
D.

danieleseglie proposal would be simplest - are you ok with that @hcuohc, we could create ssp as you propose P. lessonae lessonae and P. lessonae bergeri

Yes, it is ok for me as long as we do not have to reidentify all the observations.
