Possibility to add hybrid genus Anser x Cygnus (see comment) |
Jan. 25, 2021 15:55:35 +0000 | philodendronjoe |
taxon added |
there are also other observations of the hybrid specimens in the area:
I've just added the genushybrid Anser × Cygnus https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/1201157-Anser---Cygnus
and the hybrid Anser anser × Cygnus olor https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/1201158-Anser-anser---Cygnus-olor
@loarie Could you please activate these? Thanks in advance!
today i bumped in this observation:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/67045590#activity_identification_7b202672-3fa3-4035-b5b5-25ef0d25c04a
it was placeholdered as a hybrid between goose and mute swan, and the animal looks in fact a sort of mixture between the two species
the observer has linked an article (in german, but automatic translation works fine for me) reporting that the hybridization happened some years ago with three hybrid goose-swan (gwans?) being born, the specimen in the picture should be one of the three
since a hybrid Anser x Cygnus taxon doesn't exist on iNat, would it be worth adding it? Maybe even just at hybridgenus level? Since i'm not sure if this particular case should be Anser anser domesticus x Cygnus olor or just Anser anser x Cygnus olor, and someone in the comments has pointed out that there may possibly be some Anser cygnoides into it too
