日本でSpiranthes sinensisを観察・同定された皆様へお知らせ
For everyone who has observed or identified Spiranthes sinensis in Japan

2019年にネジバナの分類が再編され、現在は次のように和名が変わっていますので、iNaturalistの表示にも反映させました。
Spiranthes sinensis:ネジバナ → ナンゴクネジバナ
Spiranthes australis:ネジバナ

必要な方は同定を入れ直していただければと思います。よろしくお願いします。
I rename the Japanese name of Spiranthes sinensis from "ネジバナ" to "ナンゴクネジバナ" according to the below literature.

Thank you very much for the reorganization! A quick summary in distinguishing S. sinensis and S. australis:

Rachis/stem tomentose, summer-blooming: S. australis
Rachis/stem smooth, spring-blooming: S. sinensis

Do both both S. australis
and S. sinensis
occur in Japan?

Posted by loarie about 3 years ago

@loarie Yes, both species occur in Japan. But distribution area of S. sinensis is limited in Ryukyu, Ogasawara, and Izu islands, Kyushu, Shikoku, and southern part of Honshu (Fig. 6c in below).

Interesting - quite a few obs of S. sinensis from around Tokoyo (see map in my link above) - thanks for helpoing these get correctly ID'd as S. australis.

Thank you for your work on identification. I updated my observation :

If anyone can confirm ? Because I am not specialist on this

@utchee @loarie
I think Figure 6 in Pace et al. (2018) is not very useful. Currently, the distribution range of S. sinensis is Ryukyu archipelago and Izu archipelago. In addition, an undescribed species similar to S. sinensis is widely distributed in Japan.
