Should just be Complex Antiopella capensis

Swap done.

Both species should not be included in the name as per the curator guide. Opposition to a swap?@seastung @tonyrebelo @pbsouthwood @rosepalmer @alanhorstmann

no - go ahead.

what is your proposed swap?

Posted by seastung about 2 years ago

it is not a swap. It is just renaming (as per iNat convention - stabilized after this was posted) Complex Antiopella capensis-longidentatus to Complex Antiopella capensis

No opinion, I will go with the experts. Ping @tgosliner

There would technically be a swap to change the name, but the underlying taxonomy is the same.

While we're at it, is there a source for this name?

Posted by thomaseverest about 2 years ago

Not that I am aware of. Complexes on iNaturalist are more to cope with visually identical sister species, than any formal taxonomy. The situation is mentioned in some field guides.

Posted by tonyrebelo about 2 years ago

Complexes are still sourced to literature. If someone could name a field guide this is mentioned in that would be great.

Zsilavecz G 2007 Nudibranchs of the Cape Peninsula and False Bay. Surge.
(But it is under the genus Janolus, rather than Antiopella - the swap was subsequent to this guide).

Why did you swap? You could have just changed the name. it is a simple edit.

Posted by tonyrebelo about 2 years ago

Only the user who created a taxon can make edits like that.
