Two different homonyms according to POWO:

The better way to solve the problem may be to swap iNaturalist's Persicaria salicifolia to the genus level and re-ID the observations to prevent misidentification.
Would that then require all P. decipiens to be re-identified? I would prefer any alternative to that.
Perhaps this is a good reason for iNat to consistently distinguish among homonyms.
