Is P. grayi the only possible thing the P. clavatas from Portugal could be? We certainly don't have all the Paramuricea species in our system yet, so it might be premature to do a split until we know what the ranges for all the missing things are.
***Edited to add: (Not assuming you are identifying only by range, but if there are other possibilities to consider in Portugal, that would be helpful.)
As far as I can tell, P. grayi is the only shallow species in the Eastern Atlantic.
P. biscaya is a deepwater species. https://www.gbif.org/species/2261258
P. candida is a deepwater endemic in the Azores. https://www.gbif.org/species/2261250
Split - you may have to manually ID these: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?id=22058167,18524573,13641955,2743746&place_id=any&verifiable=any
Paramuricea grayi is apparently a valid species in the Eastern Atlantic. P. clavata is restricted to the Mediterranean.

There are currently 22 observations of Paramuricea from Portugal that should all be identified as P. grayi. Is there an easy way to update these IDs?
