MB has this as a full species. Does that seem right? @ben_travaglini @thebeachcomber @adrian2370 @invertebratist @predomalpha

interesting, I've never seen it as a full species before

Neither, but it does make sense for particeps to have a species-level status IMO.
Should be fine to commit a taxon swap.

we've always been IDing these to ssp right? (so that there won't be particeps hiding under glans?)

They don't really have a source so I can't really verify if it's legit. But I'm generally in favor of elevating to species just because subspecies get weird on iNat.

Yeah, there are only 8 observations of N. glans in Australia that aren't as ssp. particeps.
The status source on MolluscaBase is "Wilson, B. (1994) Australian marine shells.", a book that gets some taxonomy wrong, and makes some questionable taxonomic decisions, but more importantly is pretty old by now. In this particular instance, though, I still think particeps should have species status.

I have only seen it as subspecies. I wonder what reason was given for elevating to species level status?

Opposition to elevating? I don't have a huge preference other than to follow MB.
