"Androsace vandellii is an invalid name and that Androsace argentea should be used instead" |

resolved, see my comment |
Swap drafted instead to https://www.inaturalist.org/taxon_changes/118518 to follow POWO taxonomy. @paolapalazzolo @kai_schablewski @mimmo_perico @horticultix Any objections?
I agree that Androsace argentea is the correct name for this species, but please do not swap the observations of "A. vandellii" to A. alpina because then every single observation of "A. vandellii" is missidentified as A. alpina.
The name A. vandellii should be listed as synonym for both species, A. alpina and A. argentea in my opinion.
A. vandelli has to be listed as synonym of A. argentea because this is the name that has been used for many years. Androsace vandellii is still a widely used name so people will try to keep adding plants with this name. If A. vandellii is only listed as synonym of A. alpina then they will not even know about the correct name A. argentea and will automatically identify their observations as A. alpina which of course is a very different species.
I have just seen that the name Androsace argentea is still listed as a synonym of Androsace helvetica according to Catalogue of Life, so this is even more confusing because this is yet another clearly distinct species.

I would swap "A. vandellii" to A. argentea because every single observation of "A. vandellii" on iNaturalist is in fact A. argentea and because this name is still often used for A. argentea.
I have drafted a new swap and added the name A. vandellii to the list of synonymes of A. alpina.
I would still like to hear the opinion of others as I'm not sure if we really should do it that way:

Yes, I have deleted it, sorry. I wanted to reduce the risk that we have to identify all observations of "A. vandellii"/A. argentea again with three agreements for every observation. I hope that was okay for you. I will wait a bit longer, maybe we see another opinion on the issue and then I will swap it if there is no disagreement.
