New research has resurrected an old subgenus to accommodate a distinct Indo-Pacific clade: Latona. MB has adopted these changes.

I have drafted changes for each species affected, as well as a split with inactive atlases at the genus level to bump all Indo-Pacific observations to family because both Donax s.s. and Latona are now considered to exist there. I don't have access to the paper and I don't know enough to know if we can only atlas parts of the Indo-Pacific for each genus.

As of right now, every genus ID in the Indo-Pacific will be bumped to family.

How does that sound?

OK I did get access to the paper if anyone would like it. Looks like I missed that Plebidonax deltoides was also moved to Latona.

Adding @extraneus @nicklambert @predomalpha

Also looks like the paper doesn't really have enough info to make the atlases any more precise.

wow new genus for pipis!!

Could you please flick me a copy of that paper; thomasmesaglio@gmail.com

Yes, I'd like one too please!

Thankyou

Sent. From my skim it looks like Plebidonax was suggested from a class-level revision that didn't have great sampling or node support.

Sounds good to revert genus IDs back to family level, I IDed most of them to genus originally since Donax was the only genus in the region at the time

happy for this to go ahead whenever ready

OK I'm splitting the genus first, and then I'll do the species when that's finished. Things got really weird the last time I tried to do changes in the same group at the same time.

Swapped all species, and swapped Plebidonax into Latona even though it may be a valid genus (all our IDs looked like they should be L. deltoides).
